Beating Winter

I take great pleasure in sprouting seeds indoors - especially in the month of April, which brings terribly unreliable weather because it promises to become warm and then doesn't quite and sometimes just teeters on the edge frustratingly so.

And so when I grow tomatoes indoors from seed it feels a little like sticking it to winter. Unfortunately I'll kill most of them when moving them outdoors because our soil is hard and awful and I refuse to alter my strangely Spartan garden philosophy. But by then, it'll be warm and I won't have a point to prove to anything, however abstract.
