Indian Idol 3 - Among the boys

With the ouster of Bhavin Dhanak (don't take success so for granted next time, dude), I end up thinking of two among the boys who could win. Ok, maybe three. But that would be sticking my neck out.

In order of favoriteness...

1Emon Chatterjee (17, Kolkata) sounds absolutely ready to sing playback. He can hit the notes, keep the sur - he doesn't need to make any adjustments to hold the pitch. He has a naturally playful personality that shows well on stage. And that translates into cuteness for girls and non-threatening playmate for boys. Man, would a record company love to have him prime those disposable income teens!

2Prashant Tamang (24, Kolkata) has a bit of a straight laced personality that might preclude him being the "total package" that people keep talking about. (And what is a "package" anyway). But as far as vocal quality goes, he is second to none. He has yet to expand his range on Indian Idol 3 which he should do pronto - unless he wants to corner the ghazal market.

3?Everyone wants to love Meiyang Chang (24, Dhanbad). I can understand why - he is multi-talented, he has a rough-edged dudeness that guys like and I'm sure women like the shy, intellectual vibe he projects. His voice quality isn't up there, unfortunately and he struggles to hold a tune - often getting away with some deft adjustments. Could he win? Sure he could - but so could Suhit Gosain.

Which reminds me: Suhit, Tom Araya called. He wants his izzat back!

Comparing him to Suhit is a bit much. Seriously Meiyang is not trained, but he has a pleasant voice and knows how to maintain sur. He had one bad performance but overall has been great consistently. Suhit sounds like a cat scratching its toenails. I mean he is not a rocker. How is he considered cool? But then again Annu Malek liked him just because Suhit painted his fingernails black. Oh please, if India had voted like this then Suhit would STILL be in the competition.

Suhit proved to be a sore loser when voted out. Had he sang his last hurrah, he might have saved his image and possibly garnered some local singing gigs.

Anon, I wasn't comparing them - merely stating anything could happen. And you're right: everyone keeps harping on Suhit's "x-factor" and "performance". I see neither. If he's a rocker I'm Beethoven.

Mind Rush, I agree. That crybaby!

I think Meiyang has something special to offer which I dont see in any of the other final contestants this year, that is "a unique" "a sincere" and "a very appealing voice". Without any training he is doing so well, so bit of a training I think he will rock the stage in the Gala round.

I see Emon head to head with Meiyang in the final unless offcourse we have one of the lost talents come back via the wild card entry. All three you mentioned are very good singers. Personally I dont want to see another Sonu Nigam(Emon) or a Ashaji (Deepali) as the next Indian Idol. I want a truly unique voice with an ability to sing well and potential to be great playback singer to win!

I am glad you were not comparing Meiyang to Suhit.... ;)

Anon, that's a pretty unique way of looking at Meiyang Chang and one I hadn't thought of. Good perspective - I can now see how Chang would work.

Thank you. You will sense i am HUGE fan of Chang and his voice appealed to me from the audition round and I very much want him to win! If anyone has a doubt about his singing should listen to these

Its a real shame we lost another unique voice in the name of Aisha.

Best wishes
Bhumi

Aisha was terrific. But I got the feeling she didn't fit into any demographic who would vote for her. In any case, I wish she was in the finals. Hopefully she'll get a wild card and be back.

I am sad! no one commented about Prashant! Man, this guy is very good.. I do not understand why judges (Esp Alisha and Udit) do not praise him enough! Udit, being a Nepalese himself didnt comment on him enough so that janta would realize how gifted and talented he is!
When I listened to is voice, I really felt the vibe! he can control his voice and bring feelings to the song, his sur is perfect! Someone just needs to tell him to choose the songs well ! nonetheless whatever he has sang before are in perfect harmony with his voice!

I hope he wins! I do not want another Sonu Nigam (Emon), although I know he is very good as well... but he still needs to grow up! He should not show too much of his "Matka-Jhatka". I know Record company and SONY would want him because he can bring big cash but I really hope janta thinks twice and thrice before jumping into conclusions and voting entirely for Emon!

I also like Chang and how he has given his 200% best!

DD, well, right here is where we mention Prashant. I think with time he will rise to the top. Plus he has all the policemen in India voting for him :)

DD,
liked your loyalty to Prashant:). Prashant no doubt is very good singer and has that ability to touch hearts via singing. The competition is very tough and people will be looking for even a minutest weakness in the singing and performance. I did feel at points a zalak of Kumar Sanu in Prashant's singing. I must admit i am little puzzled on Alisha's choice of Suhit over Prashant in the last eliminations? I am equally puzzled for her choice of Richa over Smita? sounds rather subjective to me. Prashant has the Indian police force with him in addition to his fans in India and Nepal so he has a very good chance of winning! I must say i intend to vote for the one who performs the best on the finals night. And i very much hope that is Chang my fav.:)

Bhumi, Alisha has a had a temporarily mental episode which is causing her to support Suhit. My prayers are with her for a speedy recovery :)

Hey!! <3
Indian Idol has to have it all...no-one can be perfect..but the gotta have teh WHOLE package....like look at the other winners....i don't even hear of them now..like "One hit wonders"..so singing ain't everything..they gotta have the preformance, the look etccc....

i think suhit is good he has it all..yes he has to work on his surr...but he aint that bad..when he hits the high notes..i think he's awesome!!

i alsoo think aisha should come back because she was really good...don't know what append to the voting there :/

Anon, a real live Suhit fan! Well, good luck for the Lucky 6 rounds.

Riya, Parleen's song selection is going to be critical.

May the best win. I really dont know a lot about sur and taal but I think a song that touches the heart is the best.

Personally I want to see Prashant win (I'm Nepali).

lets see what happens

But when it comes to Chang n Prashant, I dunno........I mean Prashant isnt singing that well these days.....I'd rather say Amit Paul n Parleen Gill/Abhishek(poor guy! Was sweating like hell!) But I think Prashant will soon say bye to Indian Idol.....
