There are several things to be proud of here:

- No matter how much Pakistan wipes the floor with us, at least we always stick it to them in the World Cup
- We won a World Cup after over 20 years
- We won it in South Africa
- We don't need a coach
- Heck, we don't even need a regular captain
- All we need is at least one player from Vadodara and
- Playing two is even better.
Megan points us to these pictures of Shahrukh enjoying the finals: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

kya, Driftji... Regionalism bias, huh?
Agree with u completely! What a game! Although i think luck did really favor us on a few occasions.
No offense Aspi, but you *should* have kept Vadodara part away. As seen in our music reality shows and our earlier Indian cricket, regionalism just brings mediocrity to top and nothing else. We must, absolutely must let it go from our genes. [And I know you meant the whole Vadodara thing as tongue in cheek but still it's just not funny.]
It's the first time, Indian Team has played like a real team and young guns were firing on all cylinders. It was a wonderful team effort and I would like it to remember it that way only.
Three cheers for Team India!
Now that's what I am talking abt.
Joy and Jubilation everywhere.
Yayyy
Chak De! Indiiiiia
What a nail biting Game !!
----- Chak De! India !!
JD, not sure I agree with you. Being proud of your home town is a natural extension of being proud of India.
As long as it is not promoted over the larger interests of the team, its perfectly organic and fine.
How about Bhavnagar's Himesh Besharmiya as the new coach? Oh sorry, I shouldn't be spoiling the fun.
Absolutely, one should be proud of their home town.
But you did not say 'The winning team has two Vadodara player' you said 'to win... all you need is Vadodara player'. That's a different thing altogether.
Anyway, I don't care, I am just happy that India won! :)
Turning point of the game ??
Irfan's slow ball that took Afridi's wicket -- any thoughts ?
Imran Nazir's run out.
yeah it was a crusial blow - boy that guy was going - but it was bit too early in the game ...
i guess everyone should get credit - agree with manish also
Aspiji:
Insightful.
Now we need a Vadodara 11 to show the world how exxectly it is done. Kem (or is that Came) ?
In fact let's start a movement for the independence of Vadodara (Vadodaristan ??)
All Vadodaran's unite, we have nothing to lose (after all what do we have in Vadodara?) and the World to gain.
Su ? Su? (or SuSu ?)

yaar, enuff Baroda-bashing...Aspi is sorry, yes?
Let's focus on why the game was so spectacular!
Totally!!!Lets enjoy this moment of glory.
To put an end to this, let Aspi say something like Irfan said on VoI
"Main pehle Hindustani hun baad mein West Indian"
LOL that sounds like a different nation altogether.
Chak De! Indiiiiia !! :)
0.02Worth, this reminds of a saying in Gujarati "Susu na gangda ne lasan ni kadhi". I have no idea what it means but its chuckleworthy.
Mind Rush, sorry for what? I love Vadodara and everything around it - which happens to be India. Note: I'm not in need of any SMS votes like Irfan.
yay!!! or something
you guys are abandoning the other pressing issues in other posts..
What a match! This is one of the few times when every player chipped in...all the bowlers, the batsmen (poor Gambhir, no one spoke of his 75),and the fielders......Gosh, with all the ups and downs the excitement was simply too much for my ageing heart!
More than any version of the game, T20 puts the focus on small contributions from several people in the team rather than big performances.
But then we've known this because T20 was played with a tennis ball all over town when I was growing up.
It'll be a challenge to cover for the journos for sure. Different mindset.
Megan, thanks for the list of SRK pics at the finals. I've updated the post!
SRK looks malnourished in the first pic.Give him some food guys.:-)
When i saw an alian standing right next to BCCI vice prez Lalit Modi , i thought it was duplicate of MICHAEL JACKSON !!
saritha, u r supposed to swoon at the sight of a 6-pack.Thanks to SRK, I learnt what it meant.......but I think like all Indians, Indian women and men look better 'healthy'!
I like this look of him specially the 6-pack. Can't believe he has acquired this physique at this age.
He has a good head of hair too which apparently seems like is a must have requirement that Indians have from their super heroes.
- Joules
But the face has taken a beating among the hair and body! Those grooves and ridges on his cheeks make him look sick and as Saritha says postiviely malnourished........
he is soo going the michael jackson way! he looks just like him its scary!!
and his six packs were so disturbing, srk stick to what you do best, charm the auntyjis and unclejis
leave the body exposing to hot guys like Hrithik

Saritha, thanks for the link....
I sympathise greatly with all the non-cricketers.I personally love cricket, and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the match.....the guys r getting fantastic sops by bcci , thats fine cos its being given by one of the richest org in india(tho i believe bcci is doing all this just to prevent them from joining icl). Sahara is giving them a flat each.(piyush ko to lottery lag gayi!baithe baithe!)But the state governments also doling out money is unfair esp since they didnt give one penny to the hockey players.
My husband and I met an Indian hockey player a few years ago, ahd he was telling us about the abysmal conditions they have to play in....they travel by 3 class in trains, live in very budget hotels etc(i dont know if the situation has improved in the last few years).
Even they put in their best to play...so if the Government wants to spend money on cricket , then why not on other sports as well?
It was shocking when the Karnataka CM said 'let them win the world cup, then we will give them also'.Then I am sure he was criticised, so he suddenly came out sheepishly and said that 'since the hockey players have won the Nehru Cup, they get 2 lakhs each".
I hope 'Chak de'helps hockey and other sports get a boost.Suneil Shetty, where r u? U r supposed to be the hockey ambassador!
--- i was watching the documentary on Discovery or TLC the other day a
athlets in CHINA --- regardless of what they make , they have to pay 50 % of net earnings to help the sports byiteself...they had 10% going to province , 20 % to chinese govt to promote sports and 10% goes to the coatch and teammates......
just something to think about !!
greetings from South Africa
Just wanted to say that this was the best world cup final ever. Unfortunately I could not attend this match since all the tickets were sold out :(
I have never seen a game like that in south africa ever, and I just want to say that i am proud to be indian, not that I am not on any other day :)
PS. and proud to be a guju too :)
All right Bella! Welcome to ramat gamat nu jagat. Too bad you had to skip the finals.
