Early on with some mounting amusement I noted how the real dancers were being paired up with people who thought they could dance but really were there just to put the Jhalak in the title.

Now I also noticed that the good looking people got paired with other good looking people. Which left the not so visually fortunate ones to pair up with the uglier ones. Come on now, you can hate me for saying this. But in your heart of hearts you know this to be true. Take that Ronit Roy - thanks for the skinny on all these TV stars, Mum! - and look who he ended up with. Now take a look at Mir Ranjan Negi's partner. You see my point?

And then watching most of their faces fall when they saw their partner was pretty entertaining. Someone got paired with Mika Singh and looked distinctly like she wanted to choke herself. On meeting her partner, Mini Mathur had a half frozen smile on her face and looked as enthusiastic as a toddler at an opera.

And by all that is Holy, it was awful across the board. Now the producers tried hard - they punched up the performances with fancy editing and tilted camera angles. But hey, its hard to dress up a rhino - its always going to look like one. When it came to poor Mir Ranjan Negi's turn, the producers simply put a series of snapshots of his "performance" on the screen. Boy, Negi must have really blown!

Please do watch it regularly Aspi...it will be great fun reading what u have to say about it...cmon u have to agree,, this will have much more nautanki than the sullking Him-eeks.
Wasnt the first foto of Nach Baliye? My kids were having a break from their studies, and believe me, the sight of the 'adults-only' guy dancing with that extremely funny costume(hey cmon, why should only the girls expose?) got them so amused that it worked as a wonderful stress-buster....a piece of advice for the anon husband who just complained about these programmes...u seem very irritated and stressed out.....just watch the dance programmes, and u will be all refreshed and ready for the busy week ahead!
i saw parts of both episodes and the dance moves and outfits were so comical
was it the comedy round or something WTF. last year nach baliye was actually fun and entertaining, this year i dont recognize all the so called "celebs"
Plz do nach baliye as well aspi.
This show was awful. Can't even say that it's "So bad it's good". I'm going to suffer major withdrawl after SRGMP is over.
Anu g, nope it was from JDJ.
M, what dance moves? I think they vogue it out and the editors do the rest. And when you see those montages in the gym you wonder where all that stuff went?!
hmm they were dancing on stage, i didn't realize they were edited
dude i think you're getting corrrrrrrrrrrrnfused btw which one are u talking about? the one on sony or star plus??
the starplus was the lollers, random F grade celebrities wearing tacky clothes and gaudy makeup dancing very funnily..
the one on sony was ok, at least i recognized the so called celebs.
also i wouldnt dance with those choroegraphers so close and i hate the move where they push you from under their feet.
life is too short to dance with fugly guys
I watch only one - since I only get Sony - so not much chance for confusion.
Oh but how do you review srgmp and VOI tho
do u download them???
I tivo SRGMP and watch it later. VoI is reviewed by Saritha. Either way I download stuff for screen caps later.
Aspi, the dress seems to be in-vogue.There was a couple who wore it on Nach Baliye too.
Aspi, this post is a riot! I had forgotten how ridiculously funny the episode was the first time around. But reading about it just now was LOL!
Not moi cup of tea. I dont care about any of the contestants or the judges.
Love your reviews though, Aspi.
- Joules
Mind Rush, Joules, thanks!
Aw, you must watch Nach Baliye - it's infinitely more interesting. I mean, come on.. Rakhi Sawant, Kashmirah Shah, SHAKTI KAPOOR! And the jodis have some rishta to each other, so it's interesting to see their chemistry. And I think Hussain & Tina are cute. Much better than Mona Singh. And I am starting to heart Vaibhavi Merchant - she's just so elegant!
In any case, I will try to keep up with both.
Sania, I've been told that so many times I'm going to hook up my PC to the TV and watch it one of these days.
Dude, how could you not like a show that kicked off with a controversy!?
As it goes, Rakhi Sawant had her breast implants removed for the express purposes of taking part in the competition -- apparently they hurt too much while dancing. Kashmirah Shah had a field day with this and told Rakhi that no one would recognize her without the torpedo boobs. I didn't watch Bigg Boss but the word is that a lot went down between these two in the house.
And watching Rakhi is like watching a train wreck. I mean, she seems like a good person on the inside who has made some very, very bad choices - like Britney.
Aww, man, you make me want to watch it. You should do a post on it for us one of these days. It would be a lot of fun.
OMG she got her fake tatas removed just to take part on a TV show
WTF isn't that too much hassle?? she'll have to have them back in again after the show's over. I wonder if the network pays for the removal and reinsertment surgeries
