If you don't know what twitter is, think of it this way: its a way to connect with people who won't be your friend on Facebook. If you don't know what Facebook is, it might be time to have kids so they can teach you.
In any case, I decided to track Bollywood celebrity tweets on the Drift (you can see the stream in the middle column on this site). Following celeb tweets is much like watching a Govinda movie in the sense that if you are not a fan of Govinda, you won't enjoy it much.
Below I've reproduced the most prominent, more or less verified, Bollywood celebs on twitter with the number of people who are following them. If the rank in the list surprises you, note that on twitter the celeb who wins the most followers must not only possess fame but also demonstrate a sparkling personality and have time to tweet (yes, we fans are getting tougher to please).
For the techies among you, I have this Yahoo Pipe that I'll keep updated to follow celeb tweets. Feel free to use it any which way.

Aishwarya is definitely NOT on Twitter. That was confirmed by Amitabh on his blog.
It is a fake or parody account.
I agree. Only 3 or 4 out of the list are Twitter "Verified Accounts".

Realdeal - 'verified a/c' aren't always the only indicator.
Ok Aish is gone. FYI, I often see who the celebs are interacting with and decide who is real and fake. Subjective, yes. But I think it works.
I believe Asin is also not on Twitter. That's what I remember reading in one of her interviews.
