Yes, the DSM in its various versions forms the backbone of mental illess diagnosis but it is not a perfect system. It underrepresents culturally diverse groups, and thus may only be applied to Indians with caution. <BR/><BR/>But in the case of MSU thefts, let's use the Scientific Method instead of the DSM. I see several errors in reasoning: <BR/><BR/>Error #1: Do not eliminate alternative hypotheses. Just because the majority of "girls" in the hostel are well off, you cannot assume that the thief is too. <BR/>Error #2: Theorizing about an observation does not make facts. Why more females suffer from klepto can be explained in many ways.
