Ranji Super League Roundup - Day 1

A gaggle of Ranji matches going on in India. A brief round up (because unlike international cricket, in Ranji no matter whose ass gets kicked, Indians always win!). Teams doing well mentioned first, India hopefuls highlighted.

(Chennai) Baroda wrested the initiative from Tamil Nadu late in the day with two quick wickets to reduce them to 13/2 after our super skipper Jacob Martin and Rakesh Solanki added 110 for the third wicket. Irfan disappointed with the bat but struck rhythm with the ball (4-0-7-1). Brother YK knocked up crucial runs (49) and then ran out in-form Kartik for next to nothing. Go Baroda!

(Kolkata) Bengal are well positioned at 80-1 after dismissing Rajasthan for 193. Gangles bowled 6 overs for 19 and is yet to bat.

(Rohtak) Delhi batsmen carved up Haryana with Sehwag making 106 in 135 balls with 15 fours batting at #4. They are 330-7.

(Nasik) In their do or die game, Mumbai made light of Tendul's absence to score 302-3. Kukreja (108) and Jaffer (78) put on a century opening partnership.

(Hyderabad) Hyderabad (145-4) coasted on VVS's unbeaten 44 to take control of their match against Punjab (142)

(Rajkot) Karnataka's Robin Uthappa continued his rich vein of form (108) to take his team to 329-4. Dravid registered his first 50 of the year.

(Kanpur) UP dismissed Andhra for 111 (RP Singh 4-30) and notched up 155-4 (Raina 50*). Kaif failed yet again with the bat making only 26. Goodbye, recall!
