But still, there has been one constant factor – the host Shaan. Friendly, charming, non-controversial, he’s often seen sailing through turbulent times with an infectious smile on his face. Inspite of being an established playback singer currently riding high on the success of big banner movies, he appreciates these newbies on the show without ever trying to grab the limelight or intimidate them. I feel comfortable to know that whenever things go haywire (which happens pretty often around here), he’ll use his trademark charm to keep things on track. And he has never failed me.

At this point I was getting ready for the usual comments that defy logic, when Abhijeet surprised me by saying how "Suno na" had made him Shaan’s fan. Confession of the day! And surprise, surprise; he said it sitting down in his chair. It must have been a bright, sunny day in Mumbai. In return, Shaan admitted that Ishmeet is singing so well, he might be competition. Hmm...that might not happen anytime soon, but Ishmeet is targeting Shaan’s area of expertise, that is for sure.

Jatin who was boiling already need to diffuse the heat and he did that when Harshit delivered a dud with ‘Mitwa’ from KANK. Aadesh promptly defended his chela for taking up a challenge with himmat’to sing such a song on stage .

Later yet Jatin thundered “ If he can’t sing this song in a single take, at age 20, he should never sing at all. Main gaake bataoo?” The B/W sankat moments crept in, Aadesh and Lalit turned pale, Abhijeet and Alka watched the tamasha and I grabbed my coke and turned up the volume of the speakers getting ready to relish the drama, I’ve been craving for all these weeks.

Moreover, celeb guest Hridayanath Mangeshkar played messenger of peace asking the judges not to fight, thus embarrassing them.
Amidst all this, on Diwali's especially boring episode, each of the top three were gifted with a Chevrolet Spark making them very happy and that touched me. Those smiles will at least keep my cynicism at bay for a while.
Also:
- cool_guy would much rather watch Jhoom India
- Joules links to the sexiest women in Asia
- Megan thinks No. 1 Asia Sexy Bips looks scary
- Sidekick's distaste for the judges grows in inverse proportion to her fondness for the show
- anu g has heard the two finalists will get diamond studded watches from Queen Lata

Boy after all those Prozac moments on VoI, Jatin finally unleashed the pissed off bunny within. Wish he had had a go at Abhijit and woken him up.
Normally i avoid watching the crap called Voice of India . But Unfortunately I did when the Jatin was having a go on Aadesh.. Sounded like a fake , and got some confidence from Jhoom India Jhoom . talking about that actually i thought he was the student of the girl , but after seeing realized its other way around. that show is also full of black and white moments and could make for good blogging material..The hosts sounds like drunkards , judges keeps on sleeping most of the times.. and contenstants looks like forced singers ..WTF.. sorry for off the topic commments (mostly)
I am perplexed. I don't follow VoI - and so don't know what's really happening on the show, except through Saritha's post. While your caption shows ishmeet's surprise on being declared No. 1 (and I haven't missed the humour therein) why does Saritha's ticker show Ishmeet's rating plunging (as if he will be the next to go out)?
Cant imagine how anyone can be interested in still fowllowing this utter crap show
Priti,
Dont worry! We all are in a perrenially perplexed state of mind wrt this show.Ishmeet was the highest vote-gainer for that week making him No.1.He also won a bike for that, second one actually.Ticker here((which is from last week) indicates his performance, only.
PS - Aspi is busy,so he will update the ticker later tonight:)
Yaar, photobucket error. I've fixed it now and you should Saritha's new ticker soon.
Nothing to do with this topic but some eye-candy for the guys
"Sexiest Asian Women, 2007"
http://specials.rediff.com/movies/2007/nov/16slide1.htm
Ofcourse, the list is questionable as all the women are indian and the creators cant differentiate sexy from beautiful.
Joules, excellent link! Can I just say that I wholeheartedly support the winning of this "contest" by Bips.
bipasha looks frightening in that "sexy picture"..
Saritha, I must really congratulate u for making this non-issue-programme sound like so much has been happening.I have been really busy, and have missed almost all the shows on TV. But u and Aspi together get me uptodate on all thats happening!!
Thanks anu,anta mee abhimaanam:)
i am looking forward to the final
just to see arshpreet sing
and irfan too.. i don't care about the rest to be honest...
Saritha, it's a testament to yr wonderful writing and aspi's great captions that I'm still gasping thru this show :) . In the interests of full disclosure, it helped that I watched downloaded epis on a plane!
The troika of guests was one motley bunch and I couldn't figure out how they fit together. Is Gajji just emptying all his bullets in the hope that celeb guests will keep the audiences together since the singers and the judges can't? I adore Abida Parveen's voice and wish they'd had her sing. Her shayari unfortunately whizzed way over my head! However the gorgeous Hemaji's comments were hilarious. Her advice that the singer must also adopt an acting style was WTF enough to draw some guffaws fm me --- the person sitting next to me on the plane asked if I was watching a comedy.
My distaste for the judges on this show just grows as my interest drops. What a thoroughly unlikeable bunch! Aadesh's defense of Harshit's dud of a Mitwa would've been laughable but for the nasty potshots at how singers record tracks.... keep yr paws off Shafqat I wanted to yell, but of course Jatin did that for me :P
It bears repeating.... the VoI finalists can't hold a candle to the SRGMP ones. Amanat's Mitwa had everyone drawing favorable comparison's with Shafqat's. Again this week, Albela sajan on VoI was no patch on the SRGMP one. Thankfully we'll be put out of our misery next week!
Hey Sidekick, welcome back!I didn't expect you to stop by before thanksgiving holidays,so it's nice to hear your take on this show.I wait for ur input(and anu's as well) as much as I look forward to Aspi's reviews.Precisely ur comment can replace my post, anyday.Superb!
And Iam assuming that you live in US.anu, tell me if I missed any of ur previous conversations regarding this:)
Thanks, Saritha. Yep, I live in the US --- in Boston. Am traveling again over thanksgiving but the plane is a wonderful place to watch these shows if u can download them.
Thats good.Have fun watching the shows. And if you've not seen Johnny Gaddar, watch it.It's gripping narrative will keep you hooked,You know what's going to happen but not sure how.And Varma shd now get back to assisting his proteges like Sriram,to learn what he taught them in the first place.
No Saritha, sorry , I didnt comment, firstly cos I didnt watch the shows, and then , well, u know it, whatever little can be squeezed out of it, u do,(and now Sdekick too) and brilliantly!!!!I heard the two guys r going to get diamond studded watches from Lata Mangeshkar on the Finals. Btw, I love the foto of Ishmeet on the Drift Ticker:).
saritha, thanks for the recco on johnny gaddar. is it out on DVD yet? if so i shd update my netflix queue. i didn't get around to watching OSO or saawariya thanks to all my travel, but fm all the comments here and the critics' reviews the latter was worth skipping. i didn't enjoy Farah's MHN very much, so perhaps OSO is not my cup of tea either.
btw, are you doing a VoI post this week? gotto say some of star's vote grubbing techniques trouble me greatly.
Saritha, did u read up the latest on VOI.They r going to have lots of people on the show this Friday...John and Bips channel- hopping alongwith Vivek, and we get to hear the singing of Boman Irani(!),kunal ganjawala, his wife gayatri (nee iyer) and kavita krishnamurthy....now thats something to look forward to. this is for the pre-final episode. So u r going to have lots to write about.
Wow anu!Thats terrific.I get to hear/see two of my most fav-Kavita (man, she is a family fav) and Kunal.Iam so looking forward to it.
As much as I love Bips and John, I dont want to see them on every channel and every show which could lead to publicity overkill.See what happened to Saawariya couple. Can someone tell their PR that more is not always good.
Saritha, what happened last week on VOI?I just realised that you never spoke about it...hey its wednesday already!I hope u r ready with the review.
Sidekick,
I watched it online(JG,that is).And I'll be waiting for ur say on VoI's voting patterns:)
anu,
the review is with Aspi bhai!
